Bill Ames will be promoted to Sergeant on March 2, 2009! When Bill was assigned to Detention, he became dissatisfied with the way the Association handled disciplinary issues. His frustration compelled him to get involved. His desire was to make some changes and create a powerful unit to represent members on all job related issues. That was 9 years ago. Today, our Association aggressively protects the rights of its members and has had countless success. Bill aligned the WCSDA with PORAN and LDF in order to have larger organizations backing us. He later became the President of PORAN which represents approximately 2000 officers statewide. Through the years, Bill recognized that political opinions and ambitions of elected officials influenced benefits and support of those men and women in law enforcement. The Political Action Committee was formed. Through this Committee, Board members of the WCSDA have an opportunity to meet with candidates to determine whether or not they are favorable toward law enforcement. Thank you Bill Ames! We wish you the best and are grateful for the professional and personal sacrifices you have made during your tenure with the Deputies Association. You will be missed. |
